Millions of people on a global level really do not see the need of Jesus. Some have the ideas that their accumulated wealth or celebrity status would compensate for the emptiness. They have the misconception that as long as their bank accounts remain stable at six digit figures they are fine. Some believed that finding temporary refuge under the cloak of their religion surpasses the need for Jesus.
The Biblical account of Solomon underscores the inevitability of Jesus in our lives. “Solomon had wisdom which was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He also had very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore” (2 Kings 4:29, 30). Solomon was a humble, tender, and God fearing man and God blessed him and he became extremely rich in wisdom and other possessions of life. “Solomon son of David established himself firmly over his kingdom, for the Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.“ 2 Chronicles 1:1.
Sadly, a time came when Solomon felt he didn’t need God’s guidance any more. He deviated from the path of the Lord and paid costly for it. The Bible reveals that Solomon had three hundred wives and seven hundred concubines. He married wives from nations that were completely antagonistic against the Lord. Solomon’s heart was lured away from the Lord and he eventually worshiped other gods. He probably thought there wasn’t any need for God.
Most people would conclude “why think about God when I am wealthy, full of wisdom, intelligent, handsome and nice looking?” Yet, not too long we see the foolishness of the wisest of all men without God. Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 1:2 “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” The Lord Jesus Christ validated Solomon’s statement when He said “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? –Mark 8:36, 37.
