Sermons on christian dressing

Memorise: “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel” (1 Pet 3:3)

Read: Philippians 4:1-5

“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel” (1 Pet 3:3).

What you are adorned with is very important. One of my sons once said you will be addressed by the way you dress. This is very true. While it is good to look nice, neat and presentable in our dressing, we must take care lest we abuse the privilege to dress. You can be adorned outwardly or inwardly. It is good for a woman to dress well to please her husband: but if he asks you to expose what should be covered, like king Ahasuerus ordered queen Vashti, you will know that he has over stepped his bounds, and therefore you must uphold the higher law of God.

Anytime you dress and you become a symbol of lust or temptation to the opposite sex, you have gone beyond being decent to the realm of satanic agency: you have become one of Satan’s recruits to draw people into perdition! If worldly women expose their private parts, should you do the same because you want to be seen as current or fashionable?

Then, what is the difference between you and them? Romans 12:2 says a believer must not conform to worldly practices. Are you conforming in your dressing?

What is of importance to you can be determined by the time you set apart for it. Some sisters can spend one or two or more hours preening themselves before a mirror yet cannot even give 30 minutes to personal study of God’s Word or one hour to prayer. If you give God so little but give physical adornment so much of your time, you can determine who is truly your God – whether outward adornment or God.

Worldly adornment can stir up lust and strong desire for fornication, while inner adornment stirs up love for God and Heaven in the hearts of onlookers. Is that gold or make-up kit becoming your god? Displace it today! Do you still have clothes or accessories that fan the embers of lust – those minis or micro- mini skirts, perforated dresses and dresses that reveal sensitive parts of your body? Destroy them.

Don’t even give such clothes to others or else your clothes will continue their satanic assignment in the lives of the recipients. You are God’s temple and must be kept holy. Give more time to make yourself acceptable to God. Be moderate in your dressing.

Some dress to kill, some dress to heal. Anytime your dressing makes the opposite sex to lust, Heaven holds you responsible for spiritual murder.
